Lesson 1: Songs that suit you
Choose songs in keys you already know — and find them with the song finder.
Start with the key
Every song is in a key. In the easiest keys (E minor, A minor, G) most songs use four chords or fewer. So pick your first songs in those keys.
On FretWijzer.nl every key page shows which songs are in it. Use the song finder on the homepage: type a song's name and you'll see its key.
Well-known songs to start with
- "Zombie" (The Cranberries) — Em, C, G, D; a four-chord loop.
- "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" (Bob Dylan) — G, D, Am and C; slow and forgiving.
- "Stand by Me" (Ben E. King) — G, Em, C, D; the classic I–vi–IV–V loop.
- "Frère Jacques" — the song from the beginner's course, using only Am.
