Lesson 4: Power chords: your first rock chord
Two fingers, the same shape anywhere on the neck — rock guaranteed.
The simplest shape with the biggest effect
A power chord is a chord with only two different notes: the root and the fifth. It sounds thick and powerful, especially on an electric guitar with distortion.
The shape is the same everywhere on the neck: index finger on the root, ring finger two frets higher on the next string. Slide the whole shape and you play a different power chord.
